“Random appreciation tweet as I just uploaded an epub to Consonance and noticed the button to turn TOC bookmarks into marketing texts and I have to say *chefs kiss* genius.”

“Such a coherent system!”
Consonance began in 2012 when the directors were running Snowbooks, a well-established, award-winning, independent genre publisher, who needed to work efficiently as a single team, to communicate effortlessly with trade partners, to manage royalties, and to produce beautiful marketing materials.
Over the years, Consonance has expanded to serve a range of multinational trade and independent publishers of all sizes.
Configurable, beautiful marketing materials – FAST
Produce print-ready, professional-grade marketing materials directly from the system.
Filter your data any which way, then it's a 3-click process to export one or one thousand market-specific AIs, multi-layout catalogues, flyers, and other PDF exports such as internal briefings and proposals.
Beautiful, so they sell books; configurable, so you're in charge of what data is on them and how it's formatted; built-in, so you don't need to integrate with external tools. Or use data feeds into InDesign, if you do prefer – but it's nice to have options.

Flexible exports, integrations and API calls
- Automatic linked books in ONIX exports: every product record includes a complete set of associated products, such as "electronic version of", "replaces", "by the same author", and "in the same series". This has a tremendous impact on discoverability.
- Website feeds, with continual improvements based on customer feedback.
- Flexible extraction of data with our custom reports tool.
Metadata excellence
- First-class support for BISAC and the brilliant Thema subject codes, and for other subject schemas for particular markets.
- CBMC, NUR, Dewey, Library of Congress... if there's a scheme, we support it.
- Vast experience and competence in ONIX management, a smooth and straightforward interface, and expert human support. Please ask around, and you'll find that Consonance is a trusted, known quantity with recipients and supply chain professionals. We are active members of Editeur, BIC and BISG.
Project management excellence
- Project management tooling, designed for publishers with more than 11 products per work, and more than 2000 works per year, to make sure the team know where everything is at a given moment, and provide integrations to personal calendars via iCalendar.
Acquisition management
- Internal process management to ensure the acquisition decision is backed up by data and correctly recorded. Discussion management, contract templating, negotiation and generation, rights and royalty management, issues, team roles, briefing documents and more are used to manage the pipeline from submission to acceptance.
- Produce financial plans at work or product level, and for one or many works. Use templates and default values to make it a 1-click process.
- Any cost can be evaluated, from print and digital production to co-editions, translation, freelancers and more.
Advanced print project management
- Written to support clients who receive large multi-work, multi-product, multi-delivery quantity and location orders in from retailers, Consonance maps incoming orders to production runs and emits reporting and print orders for a smooth workflow.
- Clients of ours who heavily engage in co-edition management handle it through the extensive metadata, contracts, rights and production runs features. For instance, we make it possible to have one product with one ISBN-13 and two different market publication dates.
International support
Although our roots are in the UK publishing industry, we offer world-wide access, since Consonance is a cloud-hosted web application.
Our core technologies allow clients to store metadata in any script supported by the Unicode consortium, and there is no limit on the range of currencies available to use.
We are quick to adopt new international metadata elements, based on customers' market requirements. A small example: we added Flemish NUR subject code support, and market-specific publisher and supplier identification schemes.
